Food Shelves

  • United Way (211): helps youth and families find nearby food support, including food pantries, baby formula and baby food, free meals, grocery delivery, home-delivered meals, and mobile food pantry programs.
  • Food Finder appFoodFinder is a free mobile app that connects individuals and families with nearby food assistance programs, including food pantries, free meal sites, and community resources.
  • Youth Services Network’s “Food” programs: you can find free meals and food shelf services across the Twin Cities—like hot lunches, breakfast, and groceries—tailored for ages 16–24 and many welcome undocumented youth or don’t require ID.
  • 2.4 MinistryThis organization provides meals to those in need at The Salvation Army Harbor Lights Center. Breakfast is served here 5:30-6:30 AM all days of the week.
  • Catholic Charitiesbreakfast is served 7:00-8:00 AM Mon-Sat as well as lunch from 11:30-12:30 PM. Other resources are available at the Mary F. Frey Opportunity Center. 
  • Sharing and Caring Handsbreakfast is served at this site at 10:00 AM Mon-Thurs as well as Sat/Sun as well as lunch Mon-Thurs at 1:00 PM. Free clothing: Monday–Thursday 10:00-11:15 AM and 12:45-1:30 PM; Saturday—Sunday 9:00-10:00 AM.
  • All God's Children MCCThis organization has lunches available on Thursdays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM as well as a to-go food shelf.
  • Central Lutheran Church ECLAserves lunch on Mondays from 11:30-12:00 PM, they will not be open if Minneapolis schools are closed. Pork products are never served. 
  • Peace HouseMeals given Sundays starting at 1:00 PM. Meditation/group discussion is held at varying times, see website for their calendar.
  • Salvation ArmyDifferent locations have differing meal times, the website clarifies what days/times they serve lunch and dinner.
  •  Soup for YouServes hot lunch Monday–Friday 12:00-1:00 PM. Groceries given out on Wednesdays 12:00-1:00 PM.
  • Tasks UnlimitedTuesdays,Thursdays, and Fridays 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. The NOOC has snacks available as well as hygiene supplies and other basic needs for visitors. You can also get help linking to mental health supports, employment resources, healthcare, and housing stabilization services at the center.

  • Central Lutheran Church Free Store: Monday 10:00-11:30 am and 12:30-1:30 PM; Tuesday morning by appointment for first-time guests; Wednesday 10:00 AM-12:00 PM; Thursday from 10:00 AM-1:30 PM. Items available: Clothing, household items, books.
  • Sabathani Community CenterOpen Mondays and Wednesdays with food and clothes from 12:30 PM-2:45 PM, call 612-821-2396.
  • Salvation ArmyCall for an appointment Once you have talked to a caseworker, you may receive a voucher to a Salvation Army thrift store. Need to provide a photo ID and piece of current mail.

Drop-In Centers

  • YouthLink (Minneapolis) serves people ages 15-24 experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Twin Cities. The Drop-In Center is located at 41 North 12th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
  • SafeZone by Face to Face (St. Paul) is a drop in center that provides medical and mental health care for youth ages 11-24 years. The Drop-In Center is located at 130 E. 7th St., St. Paul, MN 55101.
  • Hope4Youth (Anoka) is a nonprofit organization in Anoka Minnesota that helps young people ages 16-24 experiencing homelessness. HOPE 4 Youth is located at 2665 4th Avenue North, Suite 40, in Anoka.
  • C.O.R.E. Drop-in Center by The Link (Apple Valley & Dakota County): located inside Grace Lutheran Church located at: 7800 W County Road 42 Apple Valley, MN 55124. Offers drop-in centers in Apple Valley and Dakota County, providing basic needs like food, clothing, showers, and hygiene products, as well as case management and housing assistance.
  • Oasis for Youth (Bloomington): Operates a drop-in Resource Center in Bloomington, offering services to youth in Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina, including case management, resource connections, and assistance with basic needs. Located at 2200 W. Shakopee Road, Bloomington, 55431.
  • Move Forward (Hopkins & Metro Area): Offers a drop-in center in Hopkins, providing a safe space for youth to eat, clean up, and rest, along with walk-in outreach services, case management, and mental health support. Located at 1001 Highway 7, Room 235, Hopkins, MN 55305.
  • Open Doors for Youth (Elk River) Open Doors for Youth is a safe drop-in center for ages 16–24, offering food, clothing, free therapy, and support with housing, school, or work. Located at 554 3rd St. NW, Suite 201, Elk River, MN 55330.
  • The NorthStar Youth Outreach Center by Tubman (Maplewood) NorthStar Youth Outreach Center is a safe drop‑in space (ages 10–24) offering food, laundry, computer access, clothing, advocacy, and help with school, jobs, and housing. The center is staffed by volunteers and located at the Maplewood Mall, 3001 White Bear Ave, Maplewood, MN 55109 - Suite 2006.
  • The REACH (Mankato) The REACH Resource Center in Mankato supports youth ages 16 to 24 with meals, showers, laundry, computers, clothing, hygiene supplies, case management, and connections to housing, education, and employment resources. Located at 125 E. Liberty Street, Mankato, MN 56001.
  • YouthConnections (Stillwater) Hot meals, showers, free basic needs (clothing, food, personal care items), access to computers/phone charging, assessments, resources and referrals. Located at 609 5th St S., Stillwater, MN 55082.
  • YouthConnections (Cottage Grove) Hot meals, showers, free basic needs (clothing, food, personal care items), access to computers/phone charging, assessments, resources and referrals. Located at 8100 Belden Blvd, Cottage Grove, MN 55016.
  • Full Spectrum Outreach, program of Gaia Democratic School (Minneapolis) provides street outreach, resource navigation and advocacy for youth experiencing homelessness with an emphasis on youth who identify as BIPOC and/ or LGBTQ+ and parenting youth. We serve ages 25 and under. We are a mobile outreach program but have office hours by appointment only. Located at 1219 University Ave. SE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55414.
  • Emma’s Place (Coon Rapids) Located at 8950 Springbrook Drive NW, Coon Rapids, MN.
  • YMCA Lion’s Den (Minneapolis) The YMCA Resource Centers offer youth ages 12–24 food, shelter, clothing, hygiene items, mental and emotional support, help with school or jobs, parenting resources, and assistance with coordinated entry assessments, county aid, and eviction prevention Howe Northeast Family YMCA 2304 NE Jackson Street, Minneapolis, MN 55418.
  • Midway YMCA Resource Hub (St. Paul) The YMCA Resource Centers offer youth ages 12–24 food, shelter, clothing, hygiene items, mental and emotional support, help with school or jobs, parenting resources, and assistance with coordinated entry assessments, county aid, and eviction prevention. Located at 1761 University Ave. W, St. Paul, MN 55104.
  • Avenues Drop-In (Minneapolis) Freeing Ourselves & Finding Community, a free drop-in program for LGBTQ+ teens and young adults. From 3:30-6:30 PM on Mondays, this program has groups for teens ages 13-17, and young adults ages 18-24. Participants will have a meal together, get free bus cards and have real conversations with our LGBTQ+ people in the community. This program takes place at Family Tree Clinic (1919 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403), and is presented in partnership with Avenues for Youth.

Free WiFi and Community Spaces

  • Kitchigami Regional Library System: Cass Lake Community Library (Bemidji/Cass Lake) In multiple locations through Beltrami, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard, and Wadena counties, this library system offers a variety of activities for young people, for example many locations offer story time for children at scheduled times throughout the week. Additionally, you can access WiFi, desktop computers, printing services, books, media and other community resources through the library. It is free to get a library card, and staff are happy to help you get one, no appointment needed.
